A year ago, on a Sunday night, the phone rang at about 11:30pm. It was Vitalink (similar to LifeAlert) telling us Mom had activated her alarm button and that an ambulance had been dispatched to her house. We had gotten similar alerts before... but really, somehow, I knew this one was different.
I stayed up as late as I could to try to find out where she'd been taken but had no further information (in fact, I talked to someone at Kaiser in Richmond who specifically said she hadn't been admitted there). But I guess she must have been in the throes of pre-admission bureaucracy because when I finally located her some hours later she was indeed at Kaiser in Richmond, in intensive care.
More later.
